Latine Community Recovery Advisory Council (LRAC) – Impact Report & Invitation to Join
Over the past year, Minnesota Recovery Connection (MRC) proudly launched the Latine Community Recovery Advisory Council (LRAC)—a vibrant and dedicated group of seven individuals representing a wide range of lived experience and leadership within Minnesota’s Latine recovery community.
What began with informal listening sessions and heartfelt community conversations has evolved into a formal council that meets quarterly and plays a vital role in shaping culturally responsive recovery supports at MRC.
LRAC’s Purpose & Impact
The LRAC exists to:
Identify systemic barriers impacting Latine individuals in or seeking recovery
Provide direct advisement to MRC’s leadership team
Inform and strengthen culturally specific recovery programs and services
Key Highlights from LRAC’s First Year:
Culturally Specific Resources: All core training materials and curriculum were translated into Spanish. Council members ensured these materials were not just linguistically accurate but also culturally meaningful and accessible.
Spanish-Speaking Peer Support: MRC onboarded two Spanish-speaking Peer Recovery Specialists (PRSs), expanding culturally aligned support within Latine communities.
Collaborative Training with CLUES: LRAC partnered with CLUES to co-facilitate recovery training sessions—21 participants have successfully completed the program to date.
Growth in Progress: New training modules, including Harm Reduction and Forensic Recovery Support, are in development and will launch within the next six months.
This milestone year represents just the beginning. With continued community partnership and leadership, LRAC is building sustainable pathways to recovery for Latine individuals and families across Minnesota.
