an opioid overdose, like from heroin,
oxycodone or fentanyl. Anyone from the
community can anonymously get a free
kit at county locations.
No insurance or personal information is needed.
The county’s locations are part of the Naloxone
Access Point network.
Kits and fentanyl test strips
Dakota County offers two types of naloxone
kits — nasal and intramuscular. Fentanyl test
strips are also available.
• Nasal kit: Includes directions and spray that
is administered through the nose.
• Intramuscular kit: Includes directions, syringe
and vial of naloxone. Injection is administered
in the shoulder (like a flu shot) or into the front
of the thigh.
