Wayside House’s Family Treatment Program is a long term residential substance abuse and mental health treatment program (Rule 31) for mothers at risk or involved with child protective services. This comprehensive family treatment program provides services for mothers and their children up to age 11. Children are able to visit or live onsite with their mother while she receives treatment services. Early Childhood Education, preschool and parenting groups are also provided. Services at Wayside House Family Treatment Center include onsite nursing staff, a recovery coach, family therapy, play therapy, relapse prevention, and DBT-based skills groups.

This program provides trauma informed care with group education, relapse prevention, individual sessions, and service coordination provided by licensed chemical dependency counselors and mental health professionals. Wayside House Outpatient Program is currently located on the Perspectives, Inc. campus (in St. Louis Park), provides childcare while mothers receive treatment services, and is located on a daytime bus route. This program is open to any woman in need of outpatient substance abuse services and those diagnosed with co-occurring disorders.
