Position Description: Outreach & Public Speaking

Purpose

The purpose of the Outreach & Public Speaking Volunteer is to provide information about the services offered at Minnesota Recovery Connection at community events and organizations, and to model recovery by speaking about their own personal recovery journey to the public.

Roles & Responsibilities

The roles and responsibilities of an Outreach & Public Speaking Volunteer include:

  • Providing information about the services provided at Minnesota Recovery Connection
  • Speaking about one’s own personal recovery journey to reduce stigma and shame surrounding substance use disorder
  • Representing Minnesota Recovery Connection with integrity
  • Bringing needed outreach supplies to each event
  • Keeping in contact with volunteer coordinator about any changes to outreach events

Requirements

  • 6 months in personal or family recovery or experience as a recovery ally
  • A desire to give back to the recovery community
  • Completion of the Outreach & Public Speaking workshop
  • Completion of Volunteer orientation
  • Ability to speak to personal experiences at Minnesota Recovery Connection through volunteer service or through the utilization of services
  • Ability to commit to minimum of 1 outreach event a month
